Revised Proposal

Introduction:

In this fourth grade class, we are just a few short weeks away from the end of the school year and the beginning of summer. For our science section, we will be taking a field trip to a local camp. The local camp is called Camp Fitch. We will be able to stay there for three days and learn all about pond study. The children will be able to go to the pond and be able to physically look at the water. On the other day we will be studying plant life.When the students study plant life, they will be able to pick their own plant and look at it though a microscope. When we arrive at Camp Fitch you all will be placed in different groups. There will be three groups by the names of Butterflies, Frogs, and Fish. In their groups, the teachers will place them into their jobs, which include: Bucket holder, Scooper, Write what you see, Draw what you see. At camp we will be able to have fun and learn at the same time too.

Task:

After you are finished with looking at your bucket, you will have to go back and create a made up story on the plants and animals that you have seen today. While looking at your pictures that you drew in your group, take a plant or animal and develop your own plot for your story.

Learners:

This lesson is designed for forth graders. This will be a science lesson and also involves language arts. The students will learn about pond life and to know what to expect to find. This task should not be very difficult for them and very fun as well. The students will learn hands on and be able to have fun with it. They will also be able to incorporate into different parts of their education, such as creative writing. The students will have to have prior knowledge on how to use a microscope and being able to identify basic plants and animals in pond life. In regarding their creative story, they need to know how to develop a plot that can relate to pond life.

The Proposal!

WebBlog8

What a local means to me as a pre-service teacher is it helps the student relate to things a lot easier. For example, our public library was just recently remodeled. There is a section of the library where the students can sit and relate to them! I feel that the local is very helpful for the students and for me as a teacher. It helps me show them examples and gets the point across to them more efficiently. My ideal place for the local is our public library in Poland, Ohio. They made a certain section just for children that helps them relate to things. I feel like this is a great way to help the children learn and learn in a productive way!

WebBlog4

My first web 2.0 that i have chosen to use is LearnBoost. That is a gradebook for the teacher to post on the website for her students to see how their grades stand instead of asking the professor all the time. I also am planning on using GradeGuru. This is a 2.0 that i would use because it is a place where students can place their notes where they could share them. I would also choose the quizinator. This is where you can take practice quizes online before the in class test. Another one is called Notely. This is a web 2.0 that helps the students organize their work. I also used tolingo. It is a used translator that will help students and their vocabulary. 
     In the article, I agree with what he is saying. I feel that what i have learned through technology as a student will help me. I am able to apply that to my daily life and help teach the children in my classroom.

Blog #3

I met with my Italian Professor this very morning. We were talking about having a website and some applications that we will be able to place onto the website. I told her she was able to place a grade book on there and have only the students be able to open it. Also we talked about being able to place her power points on there for the students that missed class the previous day. She also talked about putting up her syllabus for people that would want to print it out themselves. She feels this is a good way of communication and wants to see if she will be able to use it in the future.

WebBlog2

I feel if Web 2.0 were able to be placed on my professors website to help my learning i would pick Napster and blogging. I would choose these because I feel like that would help my learning throughout my college career. My goals as a university student want to be technologically involved for my students because i feel as the years go by the more technology is going to be produced. My learning and studying needs are very hands on. Visualization also helps me with my memorization and technology helps me with that each day. I feel like i am able to ask questions and stay after class. I feel like office hours really help connect the student to the professor on a one on one basis. Also, I am a huge fan of e-mail and i like to get ahold of students in that way. Facebook is also another way to get in touch with students.

WebLog 1: Class Survey

My name is Katie Mulholland and I am from Poland, Ohio. My primary e-mail is kmulholland13@jcu.edu. I prefer to be called Katie! I am a freshman this year and would like to major in Early Childhood Education. I preferably want to end up teaching 1st or 2nd grade. I was a cheerleader for 8 years and i absolutely loved it. I also like to get involved and I got involved here. I am a part of greek life and my sorority is Kappa Kappa Gamma. I am really short and like to smile all the time. I am very personable and loves to get to know people.
The things that make me feel comfortable taking risks is having the feeling of not being judged, looked down upon, or criticized to harshly for my own opinion. I also like to feel accepted by most of my peers. I consider my self as a student very well rounded. In class I feel that i participate in oral discussions on most days, on others I tend to be more to myself and do not open up as well as others. I feel as I am very responsible when it comes to being prepared for a class and on time. I always double check myself to see if I did the homework/projects correctly and have them ready to go when I enter the classroom. I am very honest with all my assignments and what ever grade I receive in the class I feel as if that is the grade I deserve. I am a very hard worker and a hands on learner. The first thing I do when I do not understand is I try raising my hand to ask questions. Also, I am willing to stay after class to ask any additional questions.
What the most important thing of technology that was invented I feel was the cell phone. I feel it is very important because it can help us in many ways where you can get ahold of people no matter where they are. It is the best thing invented because it helps people when they are in danger, in need, and just to get a conversation in when they may be on their way out. That is why I feel it is the best technology invention made. Some technology that is essential to my life is my cell phone, computer, ipod*, television, wii*, dvd player, and lights* My life after class consists of immediately checking my cell phone to see if I have received a text message or a phone call. Then i walk back to my dorm and go on my computer to check my e-mails. Then depending on the day I am able to sit and watch a little bit of television. That normally is what consists of my day with technology. I feel as if children should be watched what television shows that they can watch and what they can do on the internet. What is getting inappropriate is the sending of picture messages  that should not be seen by children. I feel like some how pictures should be able to be monitored. Seeing on the news that some of the celebrities are getting famous off of their inappropriate pictures. That is giving the wrong messages to the viewers that are watching. The things i need to do for school is have all assignments done before class so i am able to turn it in. I was able to study with topics and learn different things. I like that all my classes have class interaction with the professor and the student.
One question: How can I use this knowledge to help my 2nd grade students?
Second Question: Am I am to get help when ever I need to or if I experience technological difficulties at any time?
